Why Roll-Royce Cars Are So Dry

Rolls-Royce makes it one of the most luxurious cars in the world. It is known for producing handmade cars that promise a "wonderful carpet ride" to its customers,
a Rolls-Royce car is not cheap.

These are some of the best-selling Rolls-Royce models, and these are their entry-level prices. But with the extra limit of choice, upgrade, and customization, the actual cost of popular Rolls-Royce is limitless.

Rolls-Royce refuses to even discuss its basic prices. Rhodri Good: There is no certain amount of foundation we can discuss because it depends on each customer as an individual and limited options, who like to design and improve themselves with our bespoke team.

Interviewer: So, what are some of these extras? And is that what makes a Rolls-Royce so expensive? David Dean: One of the first obvious areas is probably color.

We have a 44,000-plus color palette. We duplicate human lipsticks, something in your house, something you own, something you have seen.

We even made the owner's dog, a red setter. So we replicate exactly, whether it's DNA, chemistry, or whatever. For us, it is different.

It will be registered as your color, and you can name it, and it belongs to you. And if someone else has seen and wants to apply that conclusion, we should go to that person and ask for his permission.

If we go to a paint shop, you will see it called Surface Finish Center, because it's an insult to say, "We paint a car."

It is more than that. You will have at least seven layers of the coat. There are primers, there are basic coats, there is color, and, rarely, we wear two clear lacquer coats.

But you can have up to 23 layers, which we have done before, the equivalent of about 100 pounds [45 kg] in just the weight of a coat.

Narrator: In addition to the endless variety of colors, Rolls-Royce customers can apply their own paint with building materials to create unique effects.

One very wealthy client went ahead and requested an additional 1,000 diamonds.

Dean: He wanted to shine more in the end, so he gave us a diamond bag. Sabachoboza. Painted. Interviewer: Surprisingly, the detailed painting of the Rolls-Royce cars is handmade by just one person.

Mark Court: My name is Mark Court, and I am a Rolls-Royce Motor Cars coach. Coach line means I can set
this pinstripe is next to the car.

Unique is true that I do it completely free, and I am the only one inside the Rolls-Royce who can do this.

That’s the same, globally within the Rolls-Royce BMW Group. So, the brushes I use are made of squirrel hair.

We found that most brushes today are man-made, which usually leaves brush marks between these lines.

These are natural hair, and this natural hair usually does not leave marks at all. So, we are working on one level, which is a higher level, so we are using one that does not leave brush marks at all.

Narrator: And if customers without training decide to add one to their car, Mark is close to traveling the world with his paintbrush. Court: As usual with Rolls-Royce, Rolls-Royce does not return to us.

We will be there. If it's Dubai, so be it. That's where I have to go. Interviewer: There are a few flawless features of the entire Rolls-Royce exterior.

A handmade pantheon grille, self-propelled wheel centers that ensure the RR logo is not rotated, and the Spirit of Ecstasy decoration.

In fact, in 2003, BMW paid $ 65 million to acquire the Rolls-Royce logo, logo, and Spirit of Ecstasy. But it is in the car that luxury - and cost - grows exponentially.

To create an almost quiet ride, the Rolls-Royce adds approximately 300 pounds of acoustic installation around the cabinet.

Its manufacturer of Continental tires even built special foam-filled tires, reducing road noise by 9 decibels.

The effects were so severe that Rolls-Royce removed the sound barrier to avoid causing acoustic sensory deficiency.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom dashboard can even be the most popular art gallery.

Clients have commissioned artists to produce all kinds of designs for this space, including this installation of stainless steel printed 3D gold that replicates the customer's DNA profile.

Another brilliant feature of the Rolls-Royce is the Starlight Headliner, a complex series of fiber-optic roof lights that reconstruct the night sky.

Alexandra Benga: It takes 16 hours to build Starlight Headliners. We start by drilling, and drilling every single hole to thread fiber-optic into every single hole. We have up to 1,340 holes.

We do this to gain stars in the sky, so we will have a night sky covered with stars.

Narrator: Like all Rolls-Royce items, customers can create spore star designs, including randomly generated shooting stars.

One customer has even compared his design to the exact shape of the star from the night he was born.

The embroidery on the upholstery is also made in a way that conforms to the design decisions of the customers.
Joshua Liles: Therefore, no standard procedure is repeated for embroidery, simply because every single design is different for the customer.

It’s not just a matter of scanning an image, turning it into embroidery.

Every part of the image is considered. Different sewing angles will reflect light differently. So instead of being a flat image, we are trying to bring it to the next level.

Therefore, it is almost three-dimensional, as a result of a hologram, which you can find in our sewing. Narrator: A very complex embroidery project Rolls-Royce has completed the making of this special Rose Phantom model, containing one million individual stitches.

Liles: The Rose Phantom is the biggest embellishment we have done so far. We will need to make a clear map of what order.

We put all those embellishments on the skin so that they all come together to match the rest of the sewing.

There is no tolerance. It cannot come out in millimeters, otherwise, it is completely extinguished.

Just take a small Rose Phantom feature, It is a good example of the development of one of the butterflies.

What seems simple, like, a picture becomes very complicated in embroidery.

So at Phantom Rose Headliner, there are a few ways we have never used it before. Because of the Rose Headliner rating, we had to break it down into individual features. So each butterfly, the flower makes itself, and then all the vines and leaves.

So you can see here, the different layers of different colored seams with different densities. And by building them, we can create that kind of blurring effect in the middle of nowhere, it fades towards the wings, melts into the quality.

We expect, and then we begin to assemble it and cover everything in the head. Interviewer: Rolls-Royce has seen sales growth for the past 10 years.

In 2019, sales increased by about 25% up to 5,152 units, at the average age of the Roll-Royce owner declining from the late 50s to the mid-40s.

Take, for example, Drake. His Bushukan model, a special Phantom program, has left the industry with an estimated value of $ 700,000.

However, customization by Drake, such as the diamond-stitched OVO owl replacing the Spirit of Ecstasy, is thought to have brought a total value of around $ 1 million.

The most expensive Rolls-Royce model ever built was the Sweettail. As a result of four years' work, this one-of-a-kind car reportedly cost $ 13 million, previously holding the title of the world's most expensive new car.

But while some high-end car manufacturers are focusing on speed, control, and super-lightweight-supercar status, Rolls-Royce cars claim one reason: luxury.
