Island Sadh Belo

Sadh Belo Urdu: سادھ بھيلو, Sindhi: ساڌ ٻيلو, or Sat, is an island in the Indus River near Sukkur, Sindh, Pakistan famous for its highly respected Hindu temples.

Temples are associated with the syncretic Dasi movement.  The island is famous for Teerath Asthan, the largest Hindu temple in Pakistan.

The building has eight other temples, a library, restaurants, a large garden, and rooms and monasteries for people who want to live on an island in a spiritual refuge. The island was a jungle island and was named Menak Parbat.

Later, a Hindu saint, Father Bankhandi Maharaj, settled here and the area became known as Sadhu bhelo.  The name Sadhu Bela means wood of wisdom.

According to some sources, Sadh Belo is named after an Arab commander named "Saeed" Arabic: سعید, who settled and settled on the island. of the river. It is found in the Indus River which flows between the Rohri and Sukkur.

The temple building is spread over two connected islands; Sadh Belo with kitchen, balcony, many temples, and Deen Belo living samadhi, park, and Rishi Nol mandir.

Father Bankhandi Maharaj, a 15-year-old spiritual explorer, reportedly from Kero Khetar near Delhi, or Nepal, arrived in Sindh in 1823, in the city of Sukkur, then a large trading center of the Subcontinent.

He settled on the forested island of Menak Parbat Sadhu Bela's first name, alone, and is known as a jungle sage.

The island was a cluster of trees when Bankandi first arrived there, but he loved the place so much that he chose it as a dhuni holy fireplace.

It is said that Father Bankhandi once saw Annapurna, the goddess of grain, in a dream. He handed her an oblong metal object called Kamandal and told her that, as long as the object was in a complex area, there would be no shortage of grain in the public kitchen.

Later, Father Bankhandi established various places of worship, including temples, dedicated to Annapurna, Hanuman, Ganesh, Shiv Shankar, Grant Sahib, and Bhagavad Gita sites.

Father Bankhandi died at the age of 60. Father Bankhandi had many disciples who followed him one by one as a hant or guardian; most notable among them are Swami Achal Prasad, Swami Mohan Das, and Swami Harnarain Das Udasin.

This area is highly respected by Hindus throughout Sindh and even India, sometimes attracting travelers from across the border.

The annual commemoration of the death of Baba Bankhandi Maharaj calls for the thousands of pilgrimage Baba Bankhandi Maharaj Mela and is celebrated with a three-day festival in which visitors are provided with free accommodation, food, and water.

One of the unique features of Sadhu Belo is that many prayers and scriptures are written here in Sindhi, the language of the Sindh province in Pakistan.

The security system is so tight that no one can enter or visit the temple without permission; there is a proper way to get permission from Pakistan Hindu Panchayat. For non-Hindus, it is difficult because of the security system because Sadh Belo is the largest temple in Pakistan.

The 'gaddi nasheen' of the temple a family that has been in charge of the temple buildings for generations moved to India after its separation in 1947.

But family members still travel once a year to Pakistan to officially open and attend the exhibition, as are the symbolic custodians of the temple building.

Currently, Sadh Belo is under the care of the Evacuee Trust Property Board and is well managed, but the absence of former management of Udasi mahants is very noticeable.
