Video Games in the Future

As video game technology advances so fast and so far from where it started, one cannot help but enjoy the idea of where to get out of here.

After all, that is part of a larger creative process and we would like to think that our writings contribute in some way. One of the first video games we can remember is Commodore's "Pong".

But we never thought that the industry could reach the level it is today. One thing is for sure, and that's what the games are pushing forward with.

Today we have made a small thought to see where our thoughts and desires will take us.

The following gives some suggestions for what may be lacking in a small item called, "impossible."

We are a little fascinated by the concept of "Sun Sports Mirrors". Wearing black sunglasses and using the technology used by Nintendo's "Wii" program, we could literally see the game happening right in front of our eyes and work with it using something almost the size of a pen.

Since this is not a completely new concept, we would like to see what comes out of project1 of the University of South Australia ‘ARQuake’ - the basis for making this type of sport a development in the near future for sure.

Another cool idea we would like to see explode within the gaming industry is the ability to communicate with characters within the game. Some games allow players to talk about text with game characters anyway, but we'd like to see this pushed a little further.

We like to be able to communicate verbally with characters: ask questions, laugh, warn and talk to them as if we are talking to someone else.

And we’d love to hear these characters talk about self-defense! It is the last chance of artificial intelligence and although it may be years before this technology is widely available, we are sure it will be an honor.

Will we get to the point where we can play within the space created in the way that the characters of Star Trek:

The Next Generation can play?

The visual reality is getting closer, but the reality of the imitation is over the moment we put on some crazy looking glasses and gloves. For this type of simulation to work, there must be as little barrier between the players and the game as possible.

We don’t do what we should think we are in the game, we want to feel that we are in the game and honestly, we don’t want to go anywhere other than our home to do so.

A television or computer screen will suffice for now, but in the future, we will want to be surrounded by things that make gambling so amazing that it is today.

We will want to turn our potholes or bedrooms into an unfamiliar outdoor ship or jungle. In short, we want a new world.

Another potential obstacle to bringing this fantasy into our living rooms is social acceptance.

Would the public be prepared for such a lofty arena? And would the public catch it? Shortly after the release of the Nintendo Wii Wii, customers were ready to complain that they wanted to restore their old controller!

So like any new development, it will certainly have unintended consequences and even though we are the gung-ho of these types of developments, we also share concerns about the impact it will have on an audience that is not "really good."

As a result, we can certainly think of a few rules that have been put in place that restrict the use of our fairy tales.

We already have some rules that try to do the same now and in our opinion, that's a good thing.

The last thing we want to encounter in games is physical injury - especially when we try to enjoy the visual entertainment!
